Growth Mindset: Why Teach Neuroplasticity to Kids?

The Brain Center is working with the young in the after-school and summer camp programs. Brain health is essential at any age. Teaching kids about neuroplasticity helps them understand their own abilities and the changes that happen with learning something new. Teaching about a Growth mindset helps kids embrace mistakes, and be prepared to face obstacles and challenges in their daily life. The brain is a physical muscle that gets stronger the more you use it. The Brain Center creates a fun interactive class to help kids understand the amazing “pattern-seeking brain.” When the neurons in your brain are activated in a particular pattern, it’s faster and easier for the brain to follow that pattern in the future.

What is a Growth Mindset?

Developing the right mindset early on is crucial for a successful, happy life. When children learn putting forth effort and using the right strategies can help them get better at things, they feel empowered and try harder. When they know their brains are capable of growing, they are more confident, resilient, and not afraid to fail. A positive Mindset shapes our everyday lives, helping us interpret our experiences and future possibilities. Mistakes help us rewire our brains.
